"BATTLE OF THE BANDS between Asbestos city locals Th3 D4rksyde c0ndition and outsiders Hannah & Clair. Vinyl production postponed due to local political crisis, for now please just borrow each others copies, in due time we will have enough people to imagineer the rest of the batch.

Below are notes each artist has requested be included with their performance:

Th3 D4rksyde c0ndition:

“The nightfreaks know.”

Hannah & Clair:

“Notes from 2nd visit to Fantasia:

Asbestos city sparkled with detritus. This was one of the better descriptions we would come across, from some would-be Mark Twain rip-off type. He wasn’t wrong, and it seemed like everything that appeared to hold conventional, Earth-recognisable value – anything that fit the standards of our historical conception of the vauable object – was comprised of gunk, gummed and cemented with gunk. Feces hardened into ceramics, beset with jewels and decorations fossilised in the intestine. Surfaces dappled, almost looking like sea coral brought up on land, on closer inspection the architecture of used and chewed gum.

It was hard to overtly judge anything. As amateur as we were, me and Clair both knew not to carry over our Earthly understanding of value as if carrying a disease from another (cosmic) country, plus; what is understood in the aftermath of a congealed rubber glob, smoothed over with saliva and discarded, could be entirely the opposite (or more likely, a plain neutral) when materials themselves were reproducible from the sample packs of memory by Fantasia’s architect-settlers. Choosing crap just as thoughtlessly (or thoughtfully) as another would choose concrete. Roblox technology has really been taken to its limits.

The town itself was quite small. Microbial life lounged within the crevice of clocks, the big winds took everyone for a joy ride. An ecology of sunbathers in sand straight out of National Geographic. There was a noticeable Wild Western pastiche, protruded with ancient Mayan memories, structures and whatnot.

We were in Asbestos because we got a gig booked at their ‘Sewer & Club’ venue, brightly billboarded above the opening of the stinking drainage tunnel. We had not realised this particular night was a ‘battle of the bands’, and a series of misreadings of the room later had us in a very last-minute Glam routine attempt… Fortunately there aren’t any photos of the night. It didn’t go down very well but we’re happy to get out of there with our necks. Was a weird place, the place reeked of death and almost nobody bothered talking to us over looking at their shiny objects. This was a detour on our way to the coast.

Please excuse the crudity of their shameless, one-sided tourism, and focus instead on the opportunity local music had to show its worth."
